In your Austin visit, you’ll never run out of choices from Tex-Mex, to Asian fusions, and American cuisine, plenty of fine and casual dining restaurants and food trucks are around the area. If you are looking for a restaurant that envisions all things Southern, Bryce Gilmore’s Odd Duck is one of the best choices. Uchi, one of the hottest restaurants in town that offer non-traditional Japanese cuisine that is widely loved by Austinites! For healthy eats, farm-to-table Vinaigrette is one of our favorites. Food trucks are also huge in the area. Veracruz All Natural Food Truck, Pueblo Viejo Taco Truck, and the food trucks around Barton Creek Greenbelt are worth the try!

2. Entertainment

Austin’s entertainment scene is something you shouldn’t miss since is one of the highlights as you visit the city. As the Live Music Capital of the World, don’t be surprised when if music welcomes you as soon as you arrive! The city holds a diverse culture and they are showcased from music, performances, and the arts. Austin has over 250 live music venues and hosts the largest music festivals such as South by Southwest also known as SXSW and Austin City Limits festival.

3. Nightlife

The vibrant nightlife is one of Austin’s gem that is enjoyed by the young, wild, single souls, the districts in downtown Austin won’t fail you. Sixth Street, Warehouse District, and 2nd Street. These are some of the most famous entertainment districts in Austin and is the definition of a party town. Discover classic vintage bars, cocktail lounges, and dance clubs that offer a unique selection of local and draft beer and adult beverages.

4. Events

What to expect when visiting Austin? Every single day, Austin is thriving with numerous events. As mentioned above, South by Southwest is one of the largest and famous events in the city where almost 2,000 bands and artists gather in more than 100 stages in Central Austin. Food festivals are also huge in the area such as the Austin Food and Festival, Pecan Street Festival. Sports events such as the Formula One World Championship and the Austin Marathon are some of the events to watch out.

5. Parks and Greenbelts

The incredible natural attractions in Austin will help you relax in the middle of the busy neighborhoods. Watch the sunset with your significant other, bike, hike, or camp with your family. Some of the notable parks and greenbelts in Austin are the Barton Creek Greenbelt, one of the top and beloved trails in the area with 12.68 miles of trails and 7 access points. Barton Creek Greenbelt is also known as “The Greenbelt” also has different spots such as Campbell’s Hole, The Flats, and Gus Fruh. Zilker Metropolitan Park is a popular park where locals and tourists can spend their time to relax and connect with nature. Various events are also being held on the park grounds.

6. Swimming Holes

If you plan on going on a spontaneous adventure in Austin, don’t forget to bring your swimwear! Swimming holes are one of the big things in Austin due to the weather is relatively warm compared to other states. During summer, you’ll definitely want to take a dip in the cool waters. Barton Springs Pool is one of the favorite swimming holes located in South Austin. It is located within the grounds of Zilker Park and the temperature hovers between 68 degrees Fahrenheit to 74 degrees Fahrenheit. Other Swimming Holes surrounding Austin are Deep Eddy Pool, Krause Springs, and the Hamilton Pool.

7. Transportation

Self-driving is the number one means of transportation in Austin but there are also more options available especially in public transportation. There are car rental companies at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the CapMetro’s bus system with over 3,000 bus stops and 53 routes. The MetroRail is also another option that connects a 32-mile line stretch from Leander to Downtown. Renting a bike, or booking Lyft or Uber are also some of the means of transportation available in the area.

8. Weather

Austin has a subtropical humid climate that can get up to over 100 degrees during summer. The weather can drop below freezing during winter and the heaviest rains occur during May and September which has an average of 33 inches each year.
