7. IBM Corporation
Another tech giant, IBM, has many offices throughout Austin that includes one of the 12 research laboratories. IBM offers computer hardware and software, hosting, and consulting services. It is also one of the largest employers in Austin with over 5,500 local employees.

In December 2020, Oracle Corporation was one of the latest tech giants to relocate its headquarters to Austin, Texas. Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk announced in July 2020 he was opening his Tesla Gigafactory in Austin. The new Gigafactory located in eastern Travis County at Del Valle is set for completion by the end of 2021. The Gigafactory is one of the world’s largest and most advanced plants that will bring an estimated $1 billion in capital investment to the region and has planned to hire 5,000 people to staff the new facility.
